ACCC's Small Business and Franchising Consultative Committee
In March 2020, LPOGroup was invited to join the ACCC's Small Business and Franchising Consultative Committee for 2021-22.
Members are drawn from a range of areas and include industry associations, small businesses, legal and business advisors and academics, with a focus on ensuring membership represents the interests of the broader small business sector.
Currently the ACCC is seeking support from committee members to share with our members recent improvements to the Energy Made Easy website. The website can be used by small businesses to find lower cost electricity and gas, which could come in very handy for many of us looking to reduce costs as we navigate through Covid-19.
New AER Energy Made Easy website
The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) operates the Energy Made Easy (EME) website.EME is the Australian Government’s free and independent energy price comparison service for small businesses and consumers in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory, that can be used to find and compare generally available electricity and gas plans from all providers in their area.
The AER received funding for a major project to redevelop the website and the final milestone was recently reached – the enhanced website is now live at www.energymadeeasy.gov.au.
We would also like to share with you some updates and key developments provided by the ACCC, relating to COVID-19 from the past week.
